About the training

Do you work with electromagnetic equipment filled with SF₆? Are you wondering how to recover gas from hermetic and non-hermetic equipment? Do you want to learn the principles of composition testing and how to handle decomposition products? Take advantage of the “SF₆ gases” training – gain comprehensive knowledge about sulfur hexafluoride and strengthen your position on the market!

The “SF₆ gases” training organized by the PROZON Foundation is a specialized course dedicated to people working with power engineering equipment containing sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆). We are the only institution in Poland accredited by the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT) to conduct examinations in the field of SF₆, which guarantees the highest quality of training and recognition of the obtained qualifications.

What is SF₆?

SF₆ (sulfur hexafluoride) is classified as a so-called fluorinated greenhouse gas (F-gas) – a synthetic gas with a very high Global Warming Potential (GWP). Its greenhouse potential makes it one of the most potent greenhouse gases known – its molecules can remain in the atmosphere for up to thousands of years.

That is why proper training of personnel operating equipment containing SF₆ is so important – learning the principles and recommendations for working with such equipment not only helps prevent emissions, but also ensures workplace safety.

Sign up today – it’s a great investment in your future in the industry.

Training program

Theoretical training

The first day of the F-gas training – the theoretical part – will provide you with comprehensive knowledge both about the properties of SF₆ and its impact on the environment, as well as available alternatives. You will receive our proprietary handbook, which will guide you through all the necessary processes and make it easier to retain the information. You will learn about the applicable legal regulations and technical standards governing the use and control of SF₆ in the power engineering industry.

Practical training

During the practical training, you will acquire skills useful in working with SF₆. You will learn how to safely recover gas from equipment. You will become familiar with the principles of measuring and assessing the quality of recovered gas and undergo leak detection training, which will help you prevent potential leaks in the future and protect the environment.

01. Day One

  • Basic knowledge of key environmental issues, familiarity with relevant regulations and implementing acts.
  • Physical, chemical, and environmental properties of SF₆.
  • Use of SF₆ in power engineering equipment (insulation and arc quenching).
  • Quality of SF₆ in accordance with relevant technical standards and its verification.
  • Basic knowledge of the design of power engineering equipment.
  • Storage and transport of SF₆ – labeling of cylinders and equipment.
  • Reuse of SF₆ and categories of reuse.
  • Handling of SF₆ decomposition products.
  • Obligations related to monitoring SF₆ and keeping documentation – setting up Equipment Cards and submitting BDS reports.
  • General measures to prevent leaks of fluorinated greenhouse gases into the environment. Leak reduction and leak checks. Basic knowledge of appropriate technologies aimed at replacing or limiting the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases and safe handling thereof.

02. Day Two

  • Handling of SF₆ – quality testing, environmental impact, and management of SF₆ waste and equipment.
  • Recovery of SF₆ and gas mixtures – purification and recycling.
  • Operation of equipment used for SF₆ recovery and filling of SF₆ equipment.
  • Non-leak drilling – detection, elimination, and prevention.
  • Working with an open SF6 chamber and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Labeling of containers and equipment.
  • Setting up Equipment Cards, making entries, and submitting BDS reports.
  • Technologies for replacing and reducing the use of SF6.
  • Theoretical and practical exam.

The final and at the same time key element of the “F-gases in the scope of SF₆” training is the final exam. Passing the test allows you to obtain a certificate issued by the Office of Technical Inspection, valid indefinitely and recognized throughout the entire European Union.
